Virginia Jones 1928-2016

Virginia Garrison Jones, 88, of Canton, died June 19, 2016.

A viewing for friends and family was held June 21, 2016, at Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home in Edgewood.

Mrs. Garrison was born Jan. 8, 1928, in Dallas, to parents Charles Allen Garrison and Laura Helen Manigk. She grew up in Edgewood’s Small Community and later graduated at Woodrow Wilson High School. She married her high school sweetheart, Harold Jones, April 7, 1991.

Robert Hooks 1929-2016

Funeral services for Robert “Bob”Alex Hooks, of Edgewood, were held Wednesday, June 22, 2016, at Cheatham Memorial United Methodist Church in Edgewood. Burial followed at White Rose Cemetery in Wills Point.

Mr. Hooks died June 18, 2016, in Wills Point.

He was born in Edgewood on Aug. 18, 1929, to the late Marcus Alexander Hooks and Inez Henrietta Hooks.

Ida Jones 1928-2016

Ida Virginia Garrison was born Jan.  8, 1928, in Dallas to parents, Charles Allen Garrison and Laura Helen Manigk.

She grew up in Edgewood’s Small Community and later graduated at Woodrow Wilson High School. She married her high school sweetheart, Harold Jones April 7, 1991.

She was vice president of First National Bank in Longview and worked for Citizen’s National Bank in Kilgore for over 30 years before officially retiring.

Evelyn Franklin 1928-2016

Graveside service for Evelyn Louise Franklin, 87, of Canton, formerly of Wills Point, was held June 15, 2016, at Locust Grove Cemetery south of Wills Point with Mr. James Haynes officiating.  

Services were under the direction of Allan Fuller Funeral Home in Wills Point.

She died June 12, 2016, in Canton.

Donny Hamby 1977-2016

Memorial services for Donny Lee Hamby, 38, of Wills Point, were held June 16, 2016, at Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home in Wills Point.

Mr. Hamby died June 8, 2016.

He was born on June 24, 1977, in Dallas, to parents Donnie Hamby and Tammi Fryer. He was raised in Oklahoma City, Okla., where he attended school. He married Jodi Trowbridge  March 12, 2005, in Mesquite, where they made their home. He and Jodi moved to Wills Point in 2007 to get out of the city. He had been working for Williams and Davis Boilers Co. in Hutchins for the past year.

Funeral services for Delmer Ray Cole, 80, of Mesquite, were held June 22, 2016, at Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home Chapel in Wills Point. 

Burial followed at White Rose Cemetery.

Mr. Cole died June 17, 2016, at Texas State Veterans Home in Bonham.

Mildred Naughtin 1932-2016

Funeral services for Mildred Virginia “Ginger” Naughtin, 84, of Grand Saline, formerly of Wills Point, were held June 16, 2016, at Allan Fuller Funeral Home Chapel in Wills Point with Jason Clark officiating. 

Graveside service followed at Resthaven Memorial Park in Corsicana.

She died June 10, 2016, in Grand Saline.

Mrs. Naughtin was born Jan. 22, 1932, in Kerens, the daughter of Franklin Harold Trantham Sr. and Mary Lee Lonsford Trantham.

Effie Mae Fancher 1919-2016

Funeral services for Effie Mae Earnhart Fancher, 97, of Edgewood, were held June 15, 2016, at New Beginnings Baptist Church in Edgewood. Burial followed at Oak Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Fancher died June 12, 2016, in Tyler.

Effie Mae Earnhart was born May 24, 1919, in Whitesboro, to parents William Daniel Earnhart and Melinda Victoria Clementine Salsman. She grew up in the Whitesboro area. She married James Edward Morris Jan. 5, 1935, in Gainesville. They lived in Dallas where they raised their six children.

Dorothy Ann Priest 1929 - 2016

Dorothy Ann Priest, 86, of Dallas, Texas, passed away June 2, 2016, at her home.

Ann was born July 15, 1929, to Paul and Maude Marable, in Clarksville. She graduated from Clarksville High School, and received college training, at 16 years old at the University of Texas, and later in 1968 and 1969 at Texas Tech University.

She met her first husband, Swift Sparks, at the University of Texas. They married in Clarksville, following WWII. Swift and Ann moved to Houston, where they had their first son, and then to Little Rock, Ark., where their second son was born. They later lived in Richmond, Va., and in Lubbock, Dallas and finally, Wills Point.
