Effie Mae Fancher 1919-2016

Funeral services for Effie Mae Earnhart Fancher, 97, of Edgewood, were held June 15, 2016, at New Beginnings Baptist Church in Edgewood. Burial followed at Oak Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Fancher died June 12, 2016, in Tyler.

Effie Mae Earnhart was born May 24, 1919, in Whitesboro, to parents William Daniel Earnhart and Melinda Victoria Clementine Salsman. She grew up in the Whitesboro area. She married James Edward Morris Jan. 5, 1935, in Gainesville. They lived in Dallas where they raised their six children.

She and Ed eventually made their home in Edgewood, moving to the community in 1974.

She worked for Neiman Marcus, Sears and JC Penny’s as a sales clerk before retiring.

She was a member of Seven Oaks Baptist Church North of Wills Point.

She is preceded in death by her parents; four sisters; two brothers; three husbands, James Edward Morris, Calvin Thomas Furrh and Walter Fancher; one daughter-in-law, Mary Lee Morris; and numerous other family members.

She is survived by her sister, Nellie Ruth Rue of Whitesboro; daughters, Linda Burns and husband Don of Edgewood, Janell Boggs and husband Mike of Edgewood, Judy Smith and husband Jerry of Edgewood and Brenda Reynolds and husband Gene of Edgewood; sons, Kenneth Morris of Mesquite and Billy Jim and wife Marlene of Lake Fork; 38 grandchildren, 60 great-grandchildren, 31 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
