Funeral services for Bobbye Lou Conn, 88, of Richardson, formerly of Wills Point, were held Dec. 26, 2016, at Allan Fuller Funeral Home Chapel in Wills Point.

Interment followed at Haven of Memories Memorial Park in Canton.

Ms. Conn passed away Wednesday, Dec. 21, 2016, in Richardson.

She was born Oct. 16, 1928, in McKinney.

Marie T. Schlumbrecht Crossley lost her battle with cancer Dec. 12, 2016. She died peacefully at home at the age of 70.

She was born in New Orleans, La. to her late parents, Robert William and Shirley Marie Truxillo Schlumbrecht on Jan.1, 1946.

In September 1964, she met Burton Crossley and they were married in January 1965. They moved to north Texas in 1968. Together they raised three children, Jeffery, Leah and Tamara. She was primarily a homemaker although when the children were older she did some substitute teaching and later worked in retail.

Funeral services for Frank A. Remmers, Sr., 76, of Wills Point, were held Wednesday, Dec. 21, 2016, at Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home in Wills Point.

Burial followed at Woodall Cemetery.

He was born April 23, 1940, in Karnes City, to Iva Mae and Walter Remmers Sr. and grew up in Kenedy. He married Wanda Lezette Crump Sept. 4, 1959, and began a 57-year courtship with her. 

He served as a youth leader under Pastor Smallwood and later the Remmers faithfully served 12 years under Pastor Glidewell, where he answered God’s call to preach the Gospel.  The Remmers went on to pioneer a church in Blue Ridge, and to minister wherever God opened the

Services for William Jackson Goodwin, 86, of Wills Point were held Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2016, at Calvary Baptist Church in Wills Point under the direction of Eubank Funeral Home of Canton.

Mr. Goodwin passed away Sunday, Dec. 4, 2016, in Dallas.

He was born June 26, 1930, in Dallas to William Jackson Goodwin and Dessie Thelma Goodwyn.

He grew up in Dallas where he attended school. He worked as a master carpenter for over 50 years and was a founder of Local Union #198. He served his country in the Army during the Korean Conflict and was stationed in Germany for a short time.

He moved to Wills Point in 1974 and commuted to Dallas for several years before retiring. He was a charter member of Calvary Baptist Church in Wills Point where he served as a Deacon. He loved his family and his church dearly.

Patricia “Patty” Reid Cooper, 57, went home to be with her heavenly Father Friday Nov. 25, 2016, after fighting her courageous battle with cancer. 

Mrs. Cooper was born March 20, 1959, in Arlington to James M. Reid and Fern Sallings Reid.  She attended Wills Point Schools where she participated as a member of the volleyball team, twirler and cheerleader. 

Her 38-year career was in the oil and gas industry and was last employed as a GEO Science Technician at Energen Resources in Midland. She was an active member of the Mid-Cities Community Church in Midland.  There she lovingly served in the children’s ministry.

Funeral services for Jean Headen, 90, of Wills Point, were held Dec. 9, 2016, at the Wills Point Church of Christ with Mr. Russell Harris officiating.  Interment followed at White Rose Cemetery in Wills Point under the direction of Allan Fuller Funeral Home in Wills Point.

Mrs. Headen passed away Monday night, Dec. 5, 2016, at Baylor Scott & White Hospital in Dallas, after a brief struggle with seizures and a stroke.

She was born March 5, 1926, in the Small Community, north of Edgewood, and was the daughter of John Roger Henson and Nina Johnson Henson.  She was raised in the Small Community, where she attended elementary school before entering Edgewood ISD.

James Oliver Parks, 72, of Wills Point, passed from this life at his home with his family by his side on Sunday, Nov. 13, 2016. 

He was born Oct. 25, 1944 in Cooper.  He worked as an auto technician for more than 40 years at the Freeman Dealerships in Dallas/Irving before retiring to Wills Point. 

James, also known as “Jimmy” was a lifelong fan of auto racing, car enthusiast and music lover.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy; daughter, Marla Shipp and husband, Gary, of Midlothian; son, James “Clint” Parks and wife, April, of Red Oak; grandchildren, Christopher Shipp, Brittani Villatoro and Grace Parks.

A memorial will be held Dec. 10, 2016, at Holy Cross Lutheran Church on Hwy. 64 in Canton.

Services for James Junior Bates, 88, of Myrtle Springs, were held Sunday, Nov. 27, 2016, at the Eubank Funeral Chapel in Canton with Bro. Brandon Bachtel and Bro. Homer Morgan officiating. 

Interment was in Haven of Memories. 

Mr. Bates passed away Nov. 25, 2016, in Tyler.  He was born Feb. 3, 1928, in Grand Saline to James Isaac and Georgia Marie Woodall Bates.

He was a member of the Good Hope Baptist Church. 

He lived in Myrtle Springs his whole life.  After serving in the US Army, he became a carpenter, farmer and rancher.  He loved hunting, fishing, dancing, baseball and football. He loved his family and had a full life with lots of Friends. 

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Verline Bates; son, Jimmy Lee Bates and sister, Edith “Dude” Wilson.
