Services for William Jackson Goodwin, 86, of Wills Point were held Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2016, at Calvary Baptist Church in Wills Point under the direction of Eubank Funeral Home of Canton.
Mr. Goodwin passed away Sunday, Dec. 4, 2016, in Dallas.
He was born June 26, 1930, in Dallas to William Jackson Goodwin and Dessie Thelma Goodwyn.
He grew up in Dallas where he attended school. He worked as a master carpenter for over 50 years and was a founder of Local Union #198. He served his country in the Army during the Korean Conflict and was stationed in Germany for a short time.
He moved to Wills Point in 1974 and commuted to Dallas for several years before retiring. He was a charter member of Calvary Baptist Church in Wills Point where he served as a Deacon. He loved his family and his church dearly.
He is survived by his son, Alan Goodwin of Wills Point; son, William Goodwin of Tyler; daughter, Carolyn and Scott Brown of West Tawakoni; son, Lonnie and Cynthia Goodwin of Bach Springs; granddaughters: Wendy Parker, Kayla Goodwin, Rachel and Joshua Bishop, and Hayley and Chris Harris; grandson, Nathan Goodwin; two great-grandchildren, Michael Parker and Alora Harris, with one on the way; sisters: Evelyn Thomason and Thelma Anthony; and a brother, James Goodwin.
He is preceded in death by his parents, William and Dessie Goodwin; wife, Sybil Goodwin; and sister, Annie Grace Godwin.
Interment was at White Rose Cemetery in Wills Point.
