TVCC to offer nursing course in Canton

Trinity Valley Community College Continuing and Workforce Education department announces a summer CNA course to be held in Canton. The course will be held at Crossroads Church, 1930 S. Trade Days Blvd., beginning with orientation on May 10. Those who pass the course are eligible to participate in the State of Texas Certification exam.
Tuition is $713, plus additional expenses including a watch, shoes, gait belt, stethoscope, certified background and scrubs.
 TVCC and the East Texas Workforce Board collaborate to assist those who qualify to receive services that improve their literacy skills. Residents of Henderson, Anderson and Van Zandt counties who have minor children at home and receive some sort of assistance (Medicaid, SNAP, CHIP, Free/Reduced Lunches) may qualify for advising and help with supplies, books, tuition and other services.

UIL Accounting team advanced to the Regional Meet

Wills Point High School's UIL Accounting team advanced to the Regional Meet by winning first, second, third and sixth individually and first overall as a team at the District UIL Meet. Book-It

Noah Wright, a third grader at Woods Intermediate School, participated in the Book-It Reading Program. Wright was the only student to complete the 200 minutes per month for the entire six months in Mrs. Mixon's third grade class.

Woods Intermediate holds pep rally

Woods Intermediate hosted their third nine weeks academic pep rally  March 25.  Students from the WPHS spoke to students about leadership.  The Woods Intermediate students were then recognized for their academic successes and celebrated with a line of high fives from educators and staff.

Alexander graduates from Texas A&M Commerce

On Dec. 19, 2015, Carson Dee Alexander graduated from Texas A & M University Commerce with a bachelor of science, majoring in criminal justice, with all semesters being recognized to the dean’s list. He is a 2012 graduate of Wills Point High School. His parents are Larry and Kathy Alexander of Wills Point. He has been accepted to the Texas State Trooper Academy in Austin and will pursue a career in law enforcement.

WPHS Theatre Department nabs district title

Cast and crew members of Wills Point High School’s district winning production of William Shakespeare's "As You Like It" celebrate with their awards and medals.

The Wills Point High School Theatre Department couldn’t have asked for much more at the District One-Act Play competition March 22, winning first overall on top of numerous individual recognitions for members of the cast and crew for their performance of William Shakespeare’s “As You Like It”.

The department’s performance earned a first overall rating from all three panel judges at the district competition, and also included eight individuals earning Superlative and All-Star recognition.

Showteam competes at Rodeo Austin

The Wills Point FFA Showteam traveled to Rodeo Austin this past weekend to participate in the Junior Livestock Show. The team met overcame strong competition in each breed and came home successful.

Logan Morris entered his Angus heifer Queen in Class 8 and won first place. Logan then returned to the ring for the Division Champion drive. Kaden Morris competed with his Angus heifer Jilt in Class 3 and brought home a successful second place.

In the Hereford Division Cody Tucker competed with his Polled Hereford heifer Rachel in Class 7 winning third place.
