Tigers earn split in final two games of the season

Chase Daniell fights the windy conditions to record an out on an infield popup against Canton.

The Wills Point Tigers entered the final week of District 13-4A play needing a pair of wins to help strengthen their chances of reaching this year’s baseball playoffs. The Tigers accomplished one of those two goals, defeating Rains in a low-scoring affair April 21 before falling to Canton April 25.

The Tigers received another stellar pitching performance from freshman righthander Josh Brogdon against the Wildcats, picking up a 2-1 come-from-behind win.

Rains struck first in the game, plating a run in the bottom of the fourth for a 1-0 lead. A two-out RBI single by Jayton Oldacre in the top of the fifth would tie the score, and a two-out RBI single by Seth Wilson in the top of the sixth would serve as the winning run for the Tigers.
