Tigers to host annual tournament

The Wills Point Tiger varsity basketball team will get to enjoy the comforts of home on what is expected to be a wet weekend, welcoming five other programs to town Dec. 7-8 for this year's Wills Point Basketball Tournament.

Play will be divided into two distinct section with all six schools scheduled to be in attendance each participating in pool play before hitting the court Dec. 8 to determine the final standings for the two-day event.

Teams scheduled to be in attendance include Pool A competitors Caddo Mills, Edgewood and Seagoville, and Pool B competitors Wills Point, Dallas Christian and Whitewright.

Games scheduled for Dec. 7 involving Wills Point will include the Tigers taking on Whitewright beginning at 11:30 a.m. and Dallas Christian and 6 p.m.

Other pool play contests scheduled for Dec. 7 will include:

-10 a.m.: Caddo Mills vs. Edgewood

-1 p.m.: Edgewood vs. Seagoville

-2:30 p.m.: Dallas Christian vs. Whitewright

-4 p.m.: Seagoville vs. Caddo Mills

Teams that finish third in their respective pools will play at 12:30 p.m. Dec. 8 to determine the consolation champion, teams that finish second in pool play will square off at 2 p.m. to determine the third and fourth place finishers, and teams that win first overall in their respective pools will play for the championship at 3:30 p.m.

The Tigers will wrap up their pre-Christmas schedule with road games gainst Ferris Dec. 11 and Eustace Dec. 18 sandwiched around a home game against Mineola Dec. 14.
