James Rogers 1937-2016

A memorial service was held for James “Ray” Rogers, 78, of Wills Point,  was held Saturday, July 23, 2016, at New Release Baptist Church in Wills Point.

The family received friends one hour prior to the memorial. Services were under the direction of Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home.

Mr. Rogers died on July 21, 2016.

He was born Nov. 19, 1937, in Board Community, the son of William Elmer Rogers and Ollie Ethel Vines Rogers. He graduated with honors from Wills Point High School in 1956. He was voted best all-around by his teachers and was the first to letter in all four sports. He had a Master’s degree in Math, Physics and Computer Science from Texas A&M at Commerce. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force.

On Aug. 22, 1958, he married Myrna Gilbert in the Board Elwood Baptist Church. He and Myrna accepted Christ as their savior in their teens and served the Lord together for 58 years. He was a system analyst for E- systems for 30 years. He and Myrna retired, bought a motor home and traveled all over the United States and Canada for 15 years.

He is preceded in death by his parents, W.E. and Ethel Rogers; daughter, Kristi Moore; sisters, Wilma Ragland, Thelma Foster, Lucille Tate, Lula Belle Laney, Beaulah Dale Tomlinson and Shirley Wanda Rogers and brothers, Elmer “Buster” Rogers, Felix Rogers and Billy Joe Rogers.

He is survived by his wife, Myra Rogers; daughter, Ginger Ingram and husband, Darrell; granddaughters, Jennifer King and husband, Shane and Heather Evans; great-grandchildren; Kaylee and Catch King all of Wills Point; sister, Delona Wade of Wichita Falls; sisters-in-law, Bobbie Rogers of Edgewood and Jane Rogers of Calera, Okla.; brother, Roy Rogers and wife, Nancy of Wills Point and numerous family members and a host of friends.
