Ava Johnston 1960-2016

Funeral services for Ava Kathryn “Kathy” Johnston, 56, of Tyler, were held June 5, 2016, at Allan Fuller Funeral Home Chapel in Wills Point with the Rev. David Cartwright officiating. 

Interment was at Union Grove Cemetery north of Wills Point.

Ms. Johnston died June 2, 2016, in Tyler.

She was born Feb. 23, 1960, in Dallas, the daughter of Billie H. Johnston and Laverne Beck Johnston.  She had lived in Canton at the Mill Creek Group Home for 29 years and for the past eight months she resided at the Phillips Street Group Home in Tyler.

She enjoyed being in the Special Olympics, where she was on the baseball and basketball teams.

She was a member of the First Methodist Church in Canton.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Billie and Laverne Johnston; brother, Phillip Beck Johnston; grandparents, Paul and Catherine Johnston and Henry J. and Ava Jane Beck; and her loving caregivers, aunt and uncle, John and Lue Jean Beck.

She is survived by two aunts, Sue Shell of Dallas and Lucile McNeil of Mesquite; and numerous loving cousins and friends Her cousins served as pallbearers. Memorials may be made to Union Grove Cemetery or the charity of your choice. Allan Fuller Funeral Home – www.allanfullerfuneralhome.com.
