WPPD publishes outstanding Class C warrant list

The WP Police Department took to social media last week, publishing a list of all current outstanding warrants coming out of the Wills Point Municipal Court for Class C violations.

The post, published on the department's Facebook page May 26 and shared more than 180 times as of press time, reads:

“The Wills Point Police Department has arranged for a 2-week opportunity for anyone who has a warrant for their arrest out of the Wills Point Municipal Court for a Class-C violation, to avoid being arrested and possibly save money.

“Anyone who is currently on the Wills Point warrant list can come to the Wills Point Municipal Court or call 903-873-4530 extension 2 and make arrangements to pay in full or make payment arrangements. Even if you have previously made payment arrangements and found you couldn't keep up, this is your opportunity to make new payment arrangements. For those who want to SAVE money, the Wills Point Municipal Judge has agreed to consider a reduction in the fine for any warrant paid in full.

“Again, if you come to Wills Point Municipal Court (located at 120 N. 5th St. in the Wills Point City Hall), you will not be arrested and you can make payment arrangements including a payment plan.”

Early returns on the effort to publish the information online have proved to be successful, with many of those listed making efforts to contact the court and clear up their outstanding fines and warrants.
