Robert Cunigan Jr. 1944-2016
Funeral services for Robert Louis Cunigan Jr., 71, of Wills Point, were held Friday, May 27, 2016, at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Wills Point with the Rev. Lonnie Cunigan officiating. Interment followed at Greenwood Cemetery in Wills Point under the direction of Allan Fuller Funeral Home in Wills Point.
He died Wednesday evening, May 18, 2016, at his residence in Wills Point surrounded by his family.
Mr. Cunigan was born Aug. 4, 1944, in Terrell the son of Robert Louis Cunigan Sr. and Anne Pearl Lee Andrew. He was raised in Wills Point and graduated from Cartwright High School. He later attended Jarvis Christian College in Hawkins.
On Feb. 6, 1965, he married Eleanor Davis and to this union Cynthia, Lisa and Robert were born. They were married for 35 years.
Later on April 7, 2000, he married Ira Nell Lyons in Las Vegas, Nev. He was formerly employed by C.D. Brimmer Construction and C.K. Burnett Construction. He enjoyed playing softball, dominoes and cards. He lived in Los Angeles, Calif. for 15 years prior to moving back to Wills Point. He was a former member of Wesley Chapel Baptist Church and later joined New Beginning Community Church, both in Wills Point.
He is preceded in death by his father, Robert Louis Cunigan Sr.; mother, Anne Pearl Andrew; grandparents, Emma Cunigan (House Mama) and Lorenzo Cunigan (House Daddy) and a sister, LaTonya Hawkins.
He is survived by his wife, Ira Nell Cunigan of Wills Point; two sons, Robert Cunigan III, of Wills Point, and Shon Woods of Terrell; two daughters, Cynthia Williams of Dallas and Lisa Asher and husband, Bobby of Terrell; step-daughter, Latrice Lyons of Lancaster, Calif.; goddaughter, Sue Wylie of California; brother, Marcellus Andrew; sister, Cynthia Mallard; step-sister, Rose Tarrant; 13 grandchildren, Lindsey Price, Victoria Collins, Ashley Price, Ray Smith III, Jessie Smith, Andre Smith, Larry Dotson, Darryn York, II, Brianna White, Yasmine Ray, Chassidy Woods, Aaliyah Woods and Londyn Woods; and eight great-grandchildren.
