Mr. Henson died March 12, 2016, after a long battle with cancer.  He was born July 22, 1938, in McKinney to John Henry and Dorothy Henson.

He was raised in Farmers Branch and was of the Baptist faith.  He attended Carrollton High School. After high school, he worked at a filling station with his brother.  In 1959, while working for Walgreen's Warehouse he met Joyce Ann King, and they married Feb. 6, 1960.  Together they worked at Fox and Jacobs and raised two sons.  He was also a member of the Jaycees.  In the 1970s, they built a home in Wills Point near Lake Tawakoni where they owned and operated Duck Cove Bait and Grocery for more than 20 years.  During that time, he raised and raced greyhounds and quarter horses.

He had a good personality, could be rough at times and was never shy about his feelings. He had a big heart and was always willing to help others.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching NASCAR and football. He enjoyed going to the casino and cutting a rug now and then.  After retirement, he was able to travel in his motor home to attend NASCAR races and a Dallas Cowboys football game.  He raised chickens, sold eggs, grew a vegetable garden and worked around his farm.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce Ann Henson of Wills Point; son and daughter-in-law, Britt and Wendy Henson of Willingston, N.D.; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sisters, Betty Dafft and Carol Means; and other family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Joe D. Henson; and brother, Leonard Henson.
