Christine Brockman 1922-2015
Funeral services for Carrie Christine Baker Brockman, 93, of Wills Point, were held Dec. 11, 2015, at Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home in Wills Point. Burial followed at White Rose Cemetery.
Mrs. Brockman died Dec. 9, 2015, in Tyler.
She was born June 4, 1922, in Wills Point to parents Fred B. and Ellen Greenway Baker. She was a life-long resident of Wills Point, where she also attended high school.
She married James Brockman on March 28, 1942. They made their home in Wills Point, where they raised their five children. She was not only a homemaker, but she and James owned and operated Brockman’s Grocery and the Interstate Motel. She loved to quilt, crochet and cook, as well as caring for her vegetable and flower garden.
She had been a member of the First Baptist Church in Wills Point since April 1954.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Bessie Baker; her husband, James Brockman; brothers, Richard Baker, Eugene Baker and William Baker; and a sister, Dorothy Burleson.
She is survived by sons, Donald Brockman and wife, Savonna of Wills Point and Ronald Brockman and wife, Karen of Waxahachie; daughters, Gloria Jean Lowe and husband, Hugh of Wills Point, Pam Wakefield and husband, Gene of Tucson, Ariz. and Diane Grisham and husband, Don of Greenville; brothers, Leon Baker and wife, Selma, and Derrell Baker and wife Eleta; sisters, Vernell Parsons and Beatrice Turner and husband, Jim; grandchildren, Rebecca Quarrington, Bradley Lowe, Rhonda Poynor, Jeffrey Brockman, Carrie Maples, Zachary Grisham, James Brockman and Eric Brockman; great-grandchildren, Tiffany Hewett, Matthew Quarrington, Edward Lowe, Amanda Poynor, Macey Maples, Ava Brockman, Trent Brockman, Shelby Maples, Gabriel Brockman and Kelsey Poynor; great-great-grandchildren, Hagen Quarrington, Emma Hewett, Skylar Quarrington; and numerous nieces and nephews.
