Lady Wright 1927-2015
Funeral services for Lady J. Wright, 87, of Edgewood, were held Thursday, July 16, 2015, at Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed at Oak Hill Cemetery.
Lady passed away July 10, 2015, at a Tyler hospital.
Lady J. Wilder was born Nov. 16, 1927, to the late Jesse Wilder and Zilla Brooks Wilder. She accepted Christ at the age of eight and was baptized in the Old Club Lake of Edgewood. Lady married William Morris Wright May 5, 1945, and during his military career they lived in various places, including Italy, South Carolina, Oklahoma, Alaska and Japan.
Lady was employed as the chief appraiser for the Van Zandt County Tax Office for 20 years and was employed with the Canton Independent School District for 20 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Red Hatter Club and served on the board of directors of First State Bank in Edgewood. Lady was one of the co-founders of the Edgewood Historical Society in 1976, and worked many years on its historical preservation and educational missions.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William Morris Wright; and sisters, Grace Parker and Dorothea Wilder.
Lady is survived by her son, Michael Wright of Edgewood; daughter, Billie Burns of Whitewood, S.D.; grandchildren, Amber Christians, Scott Burns, Robert Burns and Daniel Burns; great-grandchildren; sister, Dana Beth Redform of Hideaway Lake; and many other relatives and friends.
