Planning underway for fourth annual Back-to-School Fair

The Wills Point ISD, Wills Point PTO and Wills Point Chamber of Commerce are joining forces once again to host the fourth annual “Back-to-School Fair” for district students who qualify for free and/or reduced lunches. 

The event will be held at the high school from 9 a.m. to noon Aug. 8.

The fair helped to provide school supplies, haircuts, vaccinations, dental supplies and eye screenings to an estimated 293 students in 2013. That number grew to 339 students being afforded those services during last year’s event.

 “This number represents more than double the amount of students helped from the first year of the fair, and we couldn't have done it without the support of our caring and generous community,” organizers said.

“Our continued goal is to help provide school supplies (Pre-K through 12th) for the new year for each student that participates. Specifically, we want to provide 40 complete sets this year for grades Pre-K through sixth and 100 sets for junior and high school, collectively.”

Amanda Johns and Carol Miracle are working with local churches, civic organizations and businesses to collect supplies from now until the event.

Monetary donations will be accepted and placed into an account at Citizens National Bank. Checks should be made payable to WP PTO – Back to School Fair.

Supply donations will be collected and stored at the high school library until the fair. Supplies can be dropped off at either the high school or administration office from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday.

“We are asking that your donations be dropped off or given to us no later than July 31,” organizers said. “We hope you will choose to join us in support of this year’s fair. Thank you to those that participated previously, and we look forward to working with you again. Together we can make this year's event even more successful.”
