The Wills Point Lady Tigers have been much improved in the 2018-'19 season, putting together competitive efforts on a weekly basis against tough competition. Wills Point faced its biggest test of the year Jan. 4, playing host to the state-ranked Canton Eaglettes in the District 14-4A opener for both schools.

Offense was tough to come by for both sides in the first quarter with Canton taking a slim 7-2 lead after eight minutes of play.
Canton's Kayden Prox connected on a pair of three-pointers in the second quarter, helping the Eaglettes establish a 19-4 lead entering the half. Angelina Fields and Dawn Smith tied for the team lead in points through two quarters for Wills Point, scoring two points each.
Wills Point could only muster three points in the third quarter, including two on a Angelina Fields field goal and one on a Kinley Collins free throw.
On the other end of the court, Hannah Manry scored five points, Kayden Prox and Ashley Wood four each and Olivia Norrell three to push the Canton lead to 37-7 with just eight minutes to play.
The Lady Tigers continued to battle down the stretch against Canton, getting a pair of three-pointers from Addison Prather and one from Angelina Fields for their best offensive quarter of the night.
