For the second consecutive year, members of the Wills Point Lady Tiger basketball program filled their open date (Dec. 18) by spreading Christmas cheer at Crestwood Assisted Living.
The Wills Point Lady Tigers traveled to Nevada Dec. 14, hitting the court for one of their final non-district games of the 2017-'18 season.
Wills Point would finish with one of its most impressive efforts of the season in the contest, seizing command early on their way to a 64-54 win.
Addison Prather had a quarter to remember to open play against the Braves, hitting on five three-pointers in the first eight minutes of play to help the Lady Tigers build a 26-11 lead.
Things would continue to go in Wills Point's favor throughout the second quarter as the Lady Tigers outpaced Community 12-6 to take a 38-17 lead into the half.
The Lady Braves mounted a furious comeback bid following the break, scoring 24 points in the third quarter to shave their deficit to 47-41.
Despite the challenge Wills Point stood tall, getting solid defensive efforts from Marissa Fields, KyAnn Collins and Kinley Collins among others to secure the 10-point win.
The Lady Tigers were scheduled for a rare open date Dec. 18 before wrapping up their pre-Christmas schedule with a trip to Grand Saline Dec. 21.
Other upcoming dates of interest for Wills Point will include an appearance at the Kaufman Tournament Dec. 27-28 and this year's district opener at home against the state-ranked Canton Eaglettes Jan. 4.
