WPLC holds painting event

The Wills Point Ladies Club wrapped up the month of November with their second-ever Christmas painting event at the Wills Point Church of Christ.
The Wills Point Ladies Club held its monthly meeting at the Church of Christ last week, taking part in their second Christmas painting event. The WPLC thanked instructor Katrina Griffin from Forney for leading the program, as well as a guest from the community that attended as well.
The club went on to announce its December plans including:
-Cookies with Santa on Dec. 8 at the community center
-Assisting with the Angel Tree Program by providing donations and working distribute items etc. at the Methodist Church
-Holding their annual Christmas party at Buttermilk's in Canton on Dec. 6.
The WPLC is a Texas 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that provides needed help for the community. The Ladies Club began in 1986 and is open to women of all ages. The WPLC currently meets at the Wills Point Church of Christ, located at 302 Corky Boyd Avenue, just south of Hwy 80 on Hwy 64.
The main focus of the club's fundraising efforts is to help local students in the quest for a higher education by providing annual college/trade school scholarships to Wills Point High School female students.
The club as also supported the community by contributing to and participating in various charitable organizations and community service projects such as: Back to School Fair, Angel Tree Community Partners of Van Zandt County/ABC Room Hope Pregnancy Center, American Cancer Society's "Relay for Life" of Van Zandt County, Cards for Soldiers & Welcome Home gifts for returning soldiers, care packages and visitations at Crestwood Nursing Home, Christmas on the Bricks & Boo on the Bricks,
Lester Park, the Adopt-a-Highway Program and the Backpack Program for children in need.
