Shirley Barnes 1929-2018
Memorial service for Shirley Lee Barnes, 89, of Wills Point were held Friday, Aug. 10, 2018, at Allan Fuller Funeral Home Chapel in Wills Point with Mr. Tony Cooper officiating. Interment will be at Bright Star Cemetery north of Wills Point. She passed away early Friday morning, August 3, 2018, in McKinney.
She was born April 3, 1929, in Salina, Kan., the daughter of Frank McCaddon and Cora Lambeth McCaddon.
She was raised in Dodge City, Kan., where she attended Dodge City High School. On Jan. 4, 1947, she married Dorell E. “Barney” Barnes in Dodge City.
She was formerly employed by Sanger Harris in Irving for 20 years and J.C. Penney in Terrell for 20 years, retiring in 2003.
She enjoyed gardening, listening to music and visiting with friends. She lived in Irving prior to moving to Wills Point in 1985.
She was a member of Seven Oaks Baptist Church north of Wills Point, where she was a Sunday school teacher and sang in the church choir.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Cora McCaddon; husband, Barney Barnes; son, Johnnie Barnes and a brother, Bill Hines.
She is survived by two sons, Joe Barnes, of Mt. Vernon, Ohio and Steve Barnes and wife, Susan, of McKinney; daughter, Cynda Dart and husband, Chuck, of Sacramento, Calif. special friend, Tina Polege and husband, Billy, of Wills Point; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and eight great-great grandchildren.
