Rolling Oaks firefighters serve as instructors

Chief Perry Debord and Assistant Chief Robert Noah of the Rolling Oaks Volunteer Fire Department were among a select group of guest instructors at the TEEX Municipal Fire School held July 22-27.

Both are instructors for Firefighter V which is the most advanced level of live fire training TEEX offers.

The week-long school is held at the world-renowned Brayton Fire Training Field on the Texas A&M campus in College Station.

Each year, thousands of fire service personnel participate in the intensive week-long training courses.

This marks Chief Debord’s fourth year as instructor and Assistant Chief Noah’s 10th year.

Both men gave up a week of vacation from their full-time careers to share their knowledge and passion for firefighting with students from all over the world.

In return, they are able to bring back to the team of volunteer firefighters at the Rolling Oaks department new cutting-edge procedures and technologies.

The ROVFD responding territory covers 55 square miles in Northwest Van Zandt County in the Lake Tawakoni area.

All community members are invited to the monthly meetings held at the station on 139 VZCR 3832 at 2:30pm every second Sunday of the month.

We are also seeking personnel who would like to volunteer in either a firefighting or non-firefighting capacity.
