The Wills Point Lady Club hosted its second annual Burgers ‘n’ Games fundraising event at the Deen Building March 17, raising more than $9000 for scholarships.

The Wills Point Ladies Club held its second ever Burgers ‘n’ Games fundraising event at the Deen Building March 17, filling the building with more than 100 people that helped to raise funds that will be used to provide scholarships to the next generation of female leaders graduating from WPHS.

The evening included a wide array of activities and events, including a silent auction with donations from 88 individuals, organizations and businesses, as well as a mix of games involving bingo, dice, cards and trivia.

Organizers behind the Burgers ‘n’ Games event offered their appreciation to attendees, volunteers and businesses and persons that donated, stating “Thank you again for making our second annual Burgers ‘n’ Games event such a huge success. Based on the funds raised, more than $9500 after expenses, we will be able to give more in scholarships than we ever have before. We were overwhelmed by the generous support of the community as a whole, and we look forward to continuing this event in the future.”

The WPLC meets every third Monday from 7-9 p.m. (August through May) at the Wills Point Church of Christ building. Meetings typically include “dinner, community-based speakers or programs, prepping for fundraisers or just some fun!”
