Ronald Dummer 1947-2018

 

 

 

Graveside services for Ronald “Ron” Dummer, 70, of Wills Point, were held Tuesday, March 27, 2018, at DFW National Cemetery. Services were under the direction of Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home in Wills Point.

It is with great sadness that the family of Ronald Earl Dummer announces his passing on Friday, March 22, 2018, from complications of myotonic muscular dystrophy.

He was born Dec. 18, 1947, in Dallas. He graduated from Bryan Adams High School and Dallas Baptist University. He was a sergeant in the Army and won medals for bravery during Vietnam.

He served as a Dallas police officer for 23 years where he rode motorcycles, horses and worked traffic. He loved the Lord and served as a Baptist minister for 25 years including Stagner Baptist in Hawkins and Seven Oaks Baptist in Wills Point.

He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Cathy Jones Dummer. He is also survived by his son Derek Dummer and sister Marilyn Grable. He will lovingly be missed by many family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his sons, Darren Dummer and Dwayne Dummer, his parents, Wilmer and Sybil Dummer and his sister Janis Stell.

He was an avid Denver Broncos fan and he loved riding his horse, Denver, and playing with his sheltie dog, Gracie. Memorial Bibles may be given through The Gideons International (gideons.org).
