Patrice Garrett 1952-2018
Mary Patrice “Patti” Sikors Garrett, beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend passed peacefully into the presence of her Lord on the morning of Sunday, Feb. 18, 2018.
She was reunited with her parents, Dr. John and Shirley Sikors, both of whom preceded her into Heaven.
She was born Nov. 2, 1952 in Terrell and she graduated from Wills Point High School in 1971.
She was also a faithful and lifelong member of St. John the Apostle Catholic Church where she served in various ministries.
To say she never met a stranger is an understatement. She had a unique and fun way of weaving together total honesty, exceptional wit, and boundless compassion.
Her one-of-a-kind outlook on life enabled her to meet people every day that would become friends as well as allow them to see her incredibly generous spirit subtly hidden beneath her “outwardly tough” personality (a tough act that fooled absolutely no one!)
While you could always count on her to ‘tell it like it is”, she was also known for her incredible kindness, considerate nature and memory for important details and milestones of her family and friends’ lives.
There was never a detail too small to be remembered or commemorated by her and her ability to make everyone in her life feel special will be a cherished gift by all who knew her.
She worked with her father at Dr. J. P. Sikors, DC Chiropractic Clinic where her attention to detail ensured that each patient received the attention they needed and the office was handled not just professionally but with the utmost kindness as well.
Her love wasn’t limited to just people-she adored and took care of any and all animals including cats, birds, dogs, and any other animal that found its way to her home.
A gracious lady with class, charm, sophistication, her heart for others, and how she lovingly took care of everyone first, will be the hallmark of the legacy she leaves to all whose lives she touched.
She leaves to celebrate her memory her beloved husband, Jerry Garrett, of Quinlan; daughter, Kimberley Redditt and husband, Charles, of Arlington; brother, Bob Sikors and wife, Layne, of Los Angeles; sisters, Barbara Hendricks and husband, Rick, of Terrell, Suzzane Owen and husband, Mitch, of Forney, Nancy Sanford and husband, Charles, of Terrell and Shirley Claire Sikors of Wills Point; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, a host of friends who loved her and will miss her dearly.
Her family takes comfort in a line from one of her favorite poems by William Wordsworth, “We will grieve not, rather find strength in what remains behind…” and she truly left in each heart, of every life she was a part of, an indelible image of unconditional love.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Saturday March 3, 2018 at the historic St. John the Apostle Catholic Church, located across from the current sanctuary, 702 N. Frances St., Terrell, 75160, with a Celebration of Life to follow at 2 p.m. at Max Slayton Funerals and Cremations.
