Dudley Reese 1941-2018

 

Dudley “Doug” Marvin Reese passed away at his home on Tuesday, February 13, 2018 surrounded by his loved ones.

He had been diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer in May 2017. He was a wonderful and loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and a friend to many.

He was also very well respected in the community and with his circle of friends. He was born April 30, 1941 in Moran. He was a graduate of Crozier Technical High School in downtown Dallas.

He was employed with Southwestern Bell Telephone Company for 13 years. He was elected by his peers to Chief Stewart representing the East District for local Communications Workers of America.

Through his work there, he then acquired the position with the United Way/AFL-CIO to continue the important work for local unions and organizations important to the City of Dallas and surrounding communities.

He then worked for Nicholas Trees Machinery in Dallas. He then founded and was owner of DoorKing of Texas which is a gate/access control company in 1983. He sold the company in 1999 when he retired.

He had a passion for old cars and had many over the years. He loved to restore and work on all his cars.

He was a long-time member of the Dallas Early Ford V8 Club. He and Kristin traveled many miles on their old Flatheads over the years. He always enjoyed hanging out with his buddies on road trips in the parking lots with a good cigar.

He is survived by the love of his life, Kristin Reese. He is also survived by his children, Tammy Patton and husband, David; Teresa Abney and husband, Perry; Terry Reese and wife ,Jane; Mykal Reese, Emily Matthies and husband, Rick. Pappy is also survived by his grandchildren, Brandi Sewell and husband, Shannon; Brittany Richardson and husband, Kevin; Tyler, Destiny, Reese, Connor, Taylor, Anthony, Jordan, Eden and Mila. Pappies great grandchildren are Preston, Parker, Vincent and Paxton. He is also survived by a brother, Dwight Trees.

Pallbearers were Terry Reese, Mykal Reese, Perry Abney, David Patton, Connor Reese, Tyler Reese and Reese Patton.

Visitation was held Monday, Feb.19, 2018 at Hiett’s Lybrand Funeral Home in Wills Point. Services were held Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2018. Graveside services followed. Reverend Dustin Wood was officiating. Burial was at New Hope Cemetery just outside Edgewood in the family plot.
