Swimming contest is slated tonight (Friday) at Wills Point’s new pool beginning at 7:30 o’clock according to Mark Ashworth, manager. Mr. Ashworth who has been in charge of the summer recreation swimming program, said the contest is not limited to those participating in the program, but is open to everyone through 16 years of age. The competition will be split in two age groups, 12 and under and 13 through 16. Groups will also be divided into boys and girls divisions. There will be no entry fee, however, admission of 15 cents will be charged for participants.
College Station: William F. McFarland, son of Mr. and Mrs. Grady McFarland of Wills Point, has been designated Distinguished Student at Texas A and M College for the spring semester 1961.
Ed Taylor, operator of Taylor’s Shoe Shop in Wills Point since 1929, has sold his equipment to Wells Shoe Shop. Mr. Wells will open a new shoe shop in Hurst with the equipment. Mr. Taylor is a veteran of forty-seven years in the shoe repair and saddle business. He first opened his shop in Emory in 1914. During the years his son, the late Frank Taylor and son-in-law, Cecil Sinclair, who now operates his own shop in Mineola, has assisted him.
