Collection efforts continuing for Back to School Fair
For the sixth consecutive year, the Wills Point ISD, Wills Point PTO and Wills Point Chamber of Commerce have joined together to collect and distribute school supplies at a Back to School Fair for students who qualify for free and/or reduced lunches. This year’s Back to School Fair has been scheduled for Aug. 12 from 9 a.m. – noon at the Wills Point High School campus.
In a press release announcing this year's fair organizers stated, "Last year was a great success with 413 students being provided with school supplies, haircuts, vaccinations, dental supplies and eye screenings. This event continues to grow, and we expect even more participants this year. Last year we made two changes that really improved the verification process and increased the number of students we were able to help. Specifically, we scaled down the school supply lists given by each campus to a ‘starter kit’ of school supplies, and we put into place a process to verify student enrollment in our district and gave only one bag of supplies to each student once verified.
