Open house honoring Mr. and Mrs. Green Evans was held at their home in the Board community on July 2, marking the 50th anniversary of their marriage. Green Evans and Miss Elsie McEnturff were married on Sunday, July 2, 1911, at the home of minister, Rev. Jeff McBride in the Bright Star community. Rev. McBride also had united the bride’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. J.L. McEnturff. Assisting with the house party were Mrs. Evans’ sister, Mrs. Ada Stewart of Edgewood, her niece, Mrs. Martin Malone, Wills Point, and her neighbor, Mrs. Russell Scott. Lake Tawakoni will be officially open on August 1 for all forms of water sports, Carroll Swearingen, assistant to the general manager of the Sabine River Authority, announced Saturday. The announcement by the builders of the Iron Bridge Dam, 8 miles north of Wills Point was made at a meeting of the members of the Lake Tawakoni Recreational Advisory committee.
The Church of Christ at Pecan and O’Neal Street in Wills Point is deep in activity this week. There is vacation Bible school from 9 to 11 a.m. each morning and a revival meeting each evening at 7 p.m.
The third of a series of dances is planned for Saturday night at the American Legion Hut at 7:45 o’clock. The dance is, sponsored by the Bar Bell Club, and Sam Russell Post. 303 and will be well chaperoned according to a spokesman of the group.
