  Little Leaguers No. 1 won their first game of the season Monday night on the Wills Point field by taking a 4 to 2 win over Canton. At the end of the sixth, the score was tied 2-2, and another inning was played to break the tie. Evans relieved Kinney at the pitcher’s mound after the sixth, Evans struck out the next three up to bat. Warner led off with a walk, Roberts singled and Laney doubled to drive in the two winning runs.

  James Travis, son of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Travis of the Bethlehem community, a junior student at Southern Methodist University was named on the Dean’s list. He is a 1959 graduate of the Wills Point High School. He attends SMU on an athletic scholarship and is an accountant major.

  Miss Martha Nell Provence, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. T.K. Provence, Jr., will represent the Wills Point Chamber of Commerce as duchess at the annual Watermelon Festival celebration on July 21.

  Miss Virginia Sue Scott and Gordon Russell Tarver will exchange nuptial vows Saturday evening, July 1, at the First Baptist Church. A cordial invitation is extended to friends and relatives of the couple to attend the wedding.

  Mrs. Merlin Westbrook was honored with a pink and blue shower Friday evening, June 23, at the home of Mrs. Glynn Ellis. Co-hostesses were ladies of the East Side Church of Christ. Mrs. Bruce Wilemon presided at the cut glass punch service.
