  Wills Point is getting ready for Western Week, June 12-17. Highlighting the week will be the rodeo set for June 15, 16, and 17. Getting things underway Thursday afternoon will be a big parade downtown Wills Point at 4:30 p.m. Following, the parade a barbecue sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce will be held on the park grounds.

  At a regular meeting of the city council Tuesday night, councilmen voted to abolish the job of night watchman and hire a night policeman, according to a statement made Thursday by Homer Read, mayor.

  Little leaguers lost their season opener last Thursday night to Van 13-8.

  Baker Clinic has announced the association of Dr. Richard Lane with the clinic and hospital. He will begin his duties, Monday June 12, and will specialize in medicine and surgery. Dr. Lane and his family moved here last week and are making their home in the Hamilton home on Pecan Avenue. He and his wife are the parents of two daughters, ages 3 and 5. Mrs. Lane is a sister to Mrs. Ben Allen Pierce.

  The following seven 4-H Club members represented the county at the Texas 4-H Round-Up at Texas A&M College this week; Virginia Fenter and Beverly Thompson of Van, Michelle Mahaffey and Janiece Sullivan of Canton, Robert Calloway of Edom, Dafamay Sherwood of Myrtle Springs and Betty Pierce of Grand Saline.
