Wills Point graduate Norma Cunigan won the discus with a throw of 53.92 meters at the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Bradenton, Florida.

Former Wills Point standout Norma Cunigan has not missed a beat since graduating to the collegiate ranks and West Texas A&M, following up a stellar multi-sport career locally with an impressive two-year run that now includes an individual national title as just a sophomore.

Cunigan has been a major contributor for the Lady Buffs’ program since stepping foot on the West Texas A&M campus in 2016, following in older sister Holly Cunigan's footsteps by building an impressive resume in both her freshman and sophomore seasons.

During the indoor portion of her freshman season, Cunigan earned All-American honors

in the shot put, breaking two freshman records and winning her first career Lone Star Conference individual title in the process. Cunigan would win the shot put at the LSC championship, and finish sixth overall in the weight throw at the same championships.
