WPISD Summer Bookmobile ready to roll
The Wills Point ISD has made a strong commitment to keeping children engaged and reading throughout the months between school years, making weekly rounds with a bookmobile during each of the previous summers.
Citing studies indicating that 80 percent of what a child learns can be lost in 48 hours if not aggressively and consistently reinforced, the bookmobile will once again set out on its summer long tour each Wednesday beginning June 7.
Locations and times are set to include the following:
-First Baptist Learning Center: 9-9:45 a.m.
-Country Meadows Day Care: 10-10:30 a.m.
-Cartwright Center/STEPZ: 10:45-11:05 a.m.
-Wills Point Community Center: 11:15 a.m.-noon
-Methodist Day School: 1:15-2 p.m.
-Dairy Queen parking lot: 2-2:30 p.m.
-Oak Grove Baptist Church (Elmo): 3-3:30 p.m.
Participation in the WPISD Summer Bookmobile program is free for all children. Library cards are issued to children after a first visit unless the child still has their card from last summer.
Organizers added, "We will have snacks at every stop. Each time students visit their name goes into a drawing for large prizes. The more you visit, the more chances to win!"
The Bookmobile will end its summer with a blowout event that will include prize presentations at each scheduled stop and an appearance by the Kona Ice truck Aug. 2.
