Memorial services for Billy Hugh Bruster, 86, of Wills Point, were held Friday, May 5, 2017, at Russell Memorial United Methodist Church in Wills Point under the direction of Hiett’s LyBrand funeral home.
Burial followed at White Rose Cemetery.
Mr. Bruster passed away Wednesday, May 3, 2017, at his home.
He was born Oct. 31, 1930, on a farm near Carthage. His dad’s job with the T&P Railroad brought the family to Wills Point in 1943. He graduated from Wills Point High School in 1947. He worked for the T&P Railroad until he joined the Air Force and served during the Korean conflict. After his discharge, he attended HCJC and graduated in 1957 from North Texas State College. He spent his professional career as a purchasing agent/contract negotiator for Chance Vought Aircraft. Shortly after his retirement he volunteered at the Irving Cancer Center transporting patients for treatment.
He has two children from his first marriage. He later married the love of his life, Dorothy Bruster. They were blessed with 40 years together. He loved playing golf and at age 82, finally got a hole in one.
The Brusters enjoyed traveling in their RV and made many wonderful friends during their ‘camping days.’
In his youth, he was a member of Boy Scout Troop 381. In 1944, he became a member of Russell Memorial United Methodist Church. He was a member of the Seekers class and had served on the board of trustees for the church. He became a member of the Wills Point Masonic Lodge #422 in 1952, and recently received his 60 year pin. He was a former director of the White Rose Cemetery Association and was also a member of the Wills Point Historical Society.
He is preceded in death by his parents, JB and Nellie Bruster.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Dorothy Bruster of Wills Point; son, Brett Bruster and wife, Jan of Dallas; and daughter, Kelli Bruster Holloway and husband, Steve of Woodville; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
The love and support the Brusters received during his illness will always be cherished and never forgotten.
