Three comedies will be staged next Tuesday and Wednesday nights, May 16 and 17, in the high school auditorium at 8 p.m. The plays are being sponsored by, the recreation committee of the Wills Point Chamber of Commerce and Rotary Club, as a means of raising funds to benefit, the swimming pool.
The Friendship Class of Russell Memorial Methodist Church entertained eleven members of the graduating class who are active in the church and their parents with a coke party Sunday morning before the Sunday school hour. Guests were met by, Mrs. A.B. Hodge and Mrs. L.U. Castleberry. Each graduating guest was presented a gift in behalf of the Friendship Class. Honored at the event were Misses Sue Curtis, Sandra Sledge, Teena Wilson, Linda Burch and Charlotte Taylor; Ronnie Turner, Karl Lybrand III, Joe McLeod, Floyde Carnes, Bob Golladay and Jerry Beck.
Nine members of the Wills Point Fire Volunteer department and several wives attended the quarterly meeting of the North Texas Firemen’s Association in McKinney Tuesday evening. Attending from Wills Point were Chief K.C. Lybrand, Jr., Charlie Lasater, A.D. Williams, Douglas Small, Mr. and Mrs. Curtis Ebarb, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Lay, Mr. and Mrs. Leon Wheeler, Mr. and Mrs. A.B. Hodge and Mr. and Mrs. Hollis Smith.
The Tawakoni rodeo grounds will be, the scene of a second spring rodeo Saturday evening at 8 o’clock. Wayne McBride, operator, furnishes his own stock for the show and promises an evening of high entertainment for those attending. Events will include bronc riding, calf roping, bulldogging and bull wrestling. Tawakoni rodeo arena is located one half mile north of Wills Point on Farm Road 47.
