Clifford Daniel Jacks

Clifford Daniel Jacks
1934-2017

Services for Clifford Daniel Jacks, 82, of Terrell, were held Sunday, April 30, at Hiett’s Lybrand Funeral Home in Wills Point.
Mr. Jacks passed away April 27, 2017.
He was born Oct. 26, 1934, at home in Quinlan. He was the fourth of nine children born to Green Berry and Alice Lorene Carter Jacks, who were sharecroppers.
As a toddler, he helped pick cotton with his brothers and sisters.  When he was just 5 years old, he walked barefoot with his siblings three miles on a dirt road to attend a one room school for all ages in Frogdale.
At 19, he was employed at Monkey Grip Tread Rubber starting out as a dock hand and moving up to truck driver.  He drove 22 years for them coast to coast, clocking in over 2 million miles, and was well known by his CB handle “Funky Monkey.”
Aug. 13, 1955, he married Mittie Jo White. They had four children and lived in Denton, Terrell and Euless before retiring to his home in Elmo.
He loved and laughed often, pulling jokes and pranks on fellow truck drivers or unsuspecting family or friends.  He loved being a truck driver, fishing and going out with family. In his later years he enjoyed repairing lawn mowers and weed eaters at no charge for family and friends. He loved sitting in a chair watching traffic from his garage and keeping abreast of local and world news.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Kenneth, J.W., Shelton, Delbert Wayne and Billy; and sister Dorothy.
He is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Pam and Elbert Cunningham, Sundra and Jimmy Powers; sons, Dwayne and Cary Jacks; grandchildren, Joshua and Shelby Cunningham, Michelle Powers, Kristy Peterson, Kayla Atwell and Carlie Jacks; great-grandchildren, J.D. and Griffin Cunningham, Shyanne and Peyton Scott, Kadyn and Kason Peterson; brother, Clovis Jacks; and sister, Fern Hamm.
