April 7, 1961

The Sixth grade classes held their Easter programs Thursday, March 30, under the supervision of Mrs. Manuel Malone. A number of students gave Easter poems and those participating were: Nancy Golladay, Donna Simmons, Warren Jamieson, Darlene Greathouse and Tina Barlow. Following the poems, several told how Easter is celebrated in other countries. Marie Wilson told about Easter in Europe; Alana Wilson and C.W. Wilson, Spain; Donna Willis, Germany; Lavon Denby and Randy Rankin, Japan; Jackie Deen, Hawaii; and Charles Curtis and Tim Provence, Alaska.

An important meeting of the Parent Teachers Club has been scheduled for Tuesday afternoon at 1 o’clock in the high school auditorium New officers, will be elected to serve for the year 1961-62. Program for the day will be, brought by three piano students of Mrs. E.P. Williams. Miss Laquita Kinney will present “Chapel in the Moonlight”; Miss Darlene Hargrove, “Beautiful Dreamer”; and Miss Marilyn Britton,“Green Sleeves.” A cordial invitation is extended to all civic-minded parents in the community to attend the meeting.

Bobby Brown returned to New York City Sunday where he is attending school, after spending the Easter Holidays here with Mrs. Brown, Russ and LeAnn and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Aubrey Brown.
