The Wills Point Tiger Winter Guard took the road once again Feb. 18, heading to Coppell to compete at the most recent Winter Guard International Dallas Regional.
Wills Point students put together another excellent effort, finishing 14th overall in the finals of the event out of 30 participating schools.
Winter Guard director Nathan Ascano stated, “Judging at the event is conducted in a variety of captions, including movement, equipment and design analysis. Additionally, the contest includes two general effect judges. They look at what the performers are asked to do, and how well they do it.
“For WGI events, there are only four classifications of scholastic (high school) competition: Scholastic Regional A, Scholastic A, Scholastic Open, and Scholastic World. We were the only 4A scholastic group to make finals. The classifications are based on level of ability and complexity of show design, and have no relation to the size of the school.
