Funeral services for Mary Helen Campbell (affectionately known as “Granny Mary”), 83, of Edgewood were held Wednesday, March 1, 2017, at First Baptist Church in Edgewood, officiated by Rev. Jim Ballard and Bishop Casey Cook. Burial followed at Small Cemetery north of Edgewood. Services are under the direction of Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home in Edgewood.

Mary Helen Gilmore was born on Nov. 19, 1933, in Hillsboro, to parents, Thomas Jefferson Gilmore and Dora Dunbar Gilmore. Mary Helen was raised in the Edgewood and Fruitvale areas, where she attended both schools. She met Hermon Charles Campbell and they married on April 2, 1949, in Fruitvale, TX. She worked, with her husband, as the President and CEO of the Campbell Tomato Patch. She also worked as a manager and clerk at various convenient stores. She went on to take care of children both at the First Baptist Church and at home. She loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Hermon Charles Campbell, brothers, James R. Gilmore and T.W. Gilmore, sisters, Audie McPherson and Laura Turner, and son-in-law, Wayne Edwards. She is survived by her children, Charlotte Campbell, Canton, Cathy Edwards, Edgewood,  Wayne (Linda) Campbell, Splendora,  Diana (Tim) Wilcoxson, Edgewood, Clay (Jennilea) Campbell, Castroville and Cassoundra (Jerry) Barker; thirteen grandchildren, Lori Edwards, Shala (Gale) Smith, Wendy (John) Bird, Ginger (Michael) Phillips, Jason (Lysia) Boone, Kyle (Stormy) Wilcoxson, Daniel (Cinda) Campbell, John Stepanski, Cody (Leslie) Wilcoxson, Nicholas (Jennifer) Campbell, Shawna Perez, Katilynn Campbell, Kristalee Campbell, Kelianne Campbell, and John Clayton Kiddo Campbell; sixteen great-grandchildren, Breezy (Ben) Fiscus, Cheyenne Robert, Madison (Trent) Coble, Amelia Phillips, Hannah Seigler, Caleb Boone, Hannah Stone, Garrett Stone, Maggie Campbell, Abby Wilcoxson, Hayden Wilcoxson, Carter Wilcoxson, Emily Wilcoxson, Rylie Wilcoxson, Dakodah Prock, Jacquiline Campbell, Carinne Campbell, Ethan Acosta; brother-in-law, A.B. (Neva) Campbell, sister-in-law, Mary Lou (John Crnkovich) Nanez and numerous nieces, nephews, and all those who loved and called her Granny Mary.

Pallbearers were Jason Boone, Michael Phillips, Daniel Campbell, Kyle Wilcoxson, Cody Wilcoxson, J.C. Kiddo Campbell and Nick Campbell.
