Mike Tibbets, vice president of Hayter Engineering, praised council members and the city of Wills Point residents for their support during the recently completed sewer line project that helped to replace 1600 ft. of line near Sparks-Gibbard.
The Wills Point City Council became the latest city to voice its frustrations with a recent piece of proposed legislation, joining the growing chorus of detractors against the passage of Senate Bill 2.
Prior to tackling the action items portion of the agenda, the city heard from Mike Tibbets of Hayter Engineering during public comment. Tibbets offered city leaders a recap on the Sparks-Gibbard sewer project, praising the residents, city staff and city leadership for making their support during the process.
“Things went real well on the grant project. Back in June we opened up bids on the sewer line project that went on Sparks and Gibbard Streets...The project was to replace sewer line in that area and put in new pavement. We replaced about 1600 ft. of sewer line and in that area we pulverized the existing asphalt and base rock, added three more inches of base rock to it...made a crown to where it will shed water and then put two inches of new hot mix on top of that,” said Tibbets. “The grant was $275,000. The city's part was around $112,000. You guys got a $388,000 project for around $112,000 - pretty good deal.”
Tibbets went on the mention that the contractor used for the job commended everyone involved, from residents to city staff, for their patience and assistance throughout the entirety of the project.
