Friday, February 10, 1961
“Wills Point Tigers cinched the number two spot in district basketball by taking their last two games. Malakoff was the victim of the Tigers last Friday night in the last home game of the season. The local lads took the thriller, 52-48. Richard Shinn led the scoring with 17 points and Karl Lybrand came close with 16. When the Tigers journeyed to Rains Tuesday night the boys cinched the second place in District by taking their opponents 38-33.”
“The student council of Wills Point High School is sponsoring a basketball game between the Faculty Falcons and the Wills Point Tigers, scheduled for Tuesday night, February 14. Representing the Faculty in the game will be Mark Wells, Troy Roberts, Kenneth Foster, J.T. Foster, Farris Kinney, Coaches Edsel Nix, Jerry Fausett, and Jerry Hooks. Proceeds are to be added to the general student council fund. Admission will be 25c for students, 50c for adults, or $1 per family.”
