Friday, February 3, 1961
   “Enlarged photos of the Wills Point Tigers, 1960 co-champs of District 17-A, and the Junior High Champions of the district, were presented to the two teams last week by football enthusiast, R.C. Lybrand, Jr. Both photos are enlargements of pictures taken last November of the teams by Muresh Studio in Terrell, and were made at reduced prices. The school is to frame the pictures which will be placed in the trophy cases.”
“Homemaking students who served the meal for the Wills Point Chamber of Commerce banquet in the school cafeteria Thursday evening, Jan. 26, were Myra Jo Golden, Peggy Smith, Lynn Ezell, Doris Ferguson, Elaine Edwards, and Dianne Welch. Others were Sue Bronson, Sue Holden, Linda Wheeler and Marilyn Flowers. Such an occasion provides the students with an opportunity to participate in community activities and thus fulfill one of the purposes of the FHA.”
   “An intensified effort will be made to get Van Zandt farmers to take soil samples, have their soil analyzed and follow fertilizer recommendations on some acres of crop or pasture.  The objective is –“One Sample Per Farm.”
  “A number of new books were added to the shelves of the Wills Point Public Library recently according to Mrs. W.H. Wingo, Jr. librarian. Eighty-five of the books were, donated by Mrs. Jack Phelps of Dallas. The former Betty Adams of Wills Point, daughter of Mrs. Laura Adams. The remaining 25 books were, purchased by the Library Association. Many of these books are historic novels. Hours that the library is open are from 3 to 5 o’clock each Tuesday and Thursday afternoon.”
