With a lot of team work, the Wills Point Cagers wrapped up a surprise 54-31 score against the Rains Wildcats last Friday night. Rains, was picked to come out second in the district earlier in the season. Karl Lybrand was high point man with 14 points, trailed closely by Richard Shinn with 13.
The 1961 Betty Crocker Homemaker of Tomorrow for Wills Point high School is Linda Simmons. Linda, daughter of Mrs. Nellie Simmons of Edgewood, serves as third vice-president of the FHA chapter. Her examination papers will be entered in competition with other school’s Homemaker of Tomorrow winners to name the state’s Homemaker of Tomorrow.
The FHA Chapter met Thursday, Jan. 19, in the high school auditorium during activity period. Brenda Parkerson, president called the meeting to order and with the members participated in the opening ritual. Ann Cardwell, secretary called the roll and read the minutes which were approved. Under the direction of Wilma Day, chairman of the program committee, the freshman class presented a skit.
Deadline for paying poll taxes is just four days away, Jan. 31, reminded Mrs. Joan DuBose Guess, tax assessor-collector, this week. Mrs. Guess announced that her office will remain open Saturday afternoon for the convenience of those wishing to pay their taxes.
