Christmas on the Bricks, shop local promotion draws crowds
Keith Pearson, soon to be sworn in as the new Precinct 3 Commissioners, spread a little holiday cheer.
The historic downtown area was the place to be locally with live music, vendors and activities for people of all ages, and a Christmas parade complete with an appearance by Santa Claus bringing a steady stream of visitors to Wills Point Dec. 10.
Even with cool temperatures gripping the area, crowds began gathering early in the morning for the first set of events.
Annual favorites, including a 5k Reindeer Run and Breakfast with Santa at the community center, jumpstarted the festivities.
Edgewood eighth grader Claire James took first overall in the Reindeer Run, followed by Ranulfo Luna in second place and Mike Lyle in third.
Other activities and events included a Kid’s Zone with inflatable rides for kids, and the annual Christmas on the Bricks Car Show.
At noon, all eyes turned to the “Candy Christmas”-themed Christmas parade that included entrants from the car show, local law enforcement, Wills Point Youth Sports teams, local businesses and churches, as well as the Tiger Band.
Theo “Cotton” Miles, the grand marshal of this year’s parade, was recognized with a special plaque in front of the main stage as Mayor Mark Turner served as the event’s announcer.
Live musical performances were headlined by blues favorite Texas Flood, as well as a series of other local performers.
