1942-2016
Robert Bruce Kapitan of Wills Point passed away Oct. 15, 2016, after a lengthy battle with cancer at the age of 73.
He was born Nov. 17, 1942 in Rochester, New York to the late William and Helen Kapitan (Korol).
He graduated from St. Thomas Aquinas High School and enlisted in the United States Marine Corp Reserves.
Mr. Kapitan met and married the love of his life, Nancy Weden in 1962, raising sons Robert and William while living in Rochester, New York.
He and his family moved from Rochester, New York to Mesquite, Texas in 1979, eventually settling in the Wills Point area in 1985.
Mr. Kapitan owned and operated several businesses in the Wills Point community, including RWK Enterprises, Katz Transportation and Cruises by Nancy, which he co-owned with his wife.
He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, traveling with his wife, working on classic cars and listening to 1950s music.
He is preceded in death by his parents, William and Helen.
Mr. Kapitan is survived by his wife, Nancy; sons, Robert Kapitan of Wills Point and William Kapitan and his wife, Ute of Wills Point; brother, Richard and his wife, Janet of Seymour, Conn; grandchildren, Robert Kapitan and wife, Stayce of Forney, David Kapitan of Wills Point, Jenna Kapitan of Denton, Brad Harrelson of Dallas; and great-grandchildren Tyler and Dylan Kapitan.
A celebration of life ceremony will be held at Rancho Restaurant in Irving at 5:30 p.m., Oct. 23.
