New facilities use policy to be implemented
The Wills Point ISD Board of Trustees and administrative staff turned its attention to the district’s facilities use policy over the course of the past two months, working to streamline the policy while eliminating as much of the gray area as possible.
The issue was first raised at the August board meeting, with board members Russell Hiler, Jeff Etheridge and George Wilcoxson questioning the district’s allowance of some groups access to facilities while denying other groups the same access under past administrations.
Ultimately, board members requested that the item be revisited at a future time with the stated goal of finding a standardized policy for the district moving forward.
After the August meeting, a committee consisting of Superintendent Scott Caloss, Assistant Superintendent Damon Davis, Athletic Director Greg Cranfill, WPHS Principal Jeff Smith and WPJH Principal Casey Cochran met to piece together a policy that would ultimately be reviewed by board members at their Sept. 12 meeting.
