TVED foundation gives grants

The TVEC Charitable Foundation recently awarded five grants totaling $21,500.

Founded in 2013, the foundation is an independent, nonprofit organization, created to serve the community and help improve the quality of life for residents in our service area. The foundation is funded entirely by donations from TVEC members who participate in Operation Round Up.

Grant recipients were:

First Community Church Crandall - $2,500. The church has a contract with Texas Presbyterian Hospital Health Ministry to provide first aid training. The grant funds will be used to provide AED and CPR training to a wide range of groups using the church facility.

God’s Helping Hand - $5,000. Helping Hands Food Assistance is a missionary connection of the church that provides food once a month for families and individuals in the community who are in need. Grant funds will be used to increase the number of individuals served, and to assist in purchasing better quality canned goods, meats and fresh fruit.

Helping Angels - $5,000. The mission of Helping Angels is not only to help families with urgent needs, but also to educate and connect them with the proper resources they need to effectively provide for themselves. The grant money will be used to assist the growing needs of these families. The primary focus of the organization is on children, the disabled and the elderly.

Van Zandt County ABC Room - $5,000. The ABC Room is an emergency resource for abused and neglected and at-risk children of Van Zandt County. The grant funds will be used to purchase items needed for children and senior adults in protective service.

Henderson County Performing Arts - $4,000. The mission statement of the organization is: “We Entertain. We Educate. We Change Lives.” The primary goal is to bring quality entertainment and education to the East Texas region. The grant funds will be used for the YES (Youth Excellence Onstage) Program
