Sim Caldwell 1929-2016

Funeral services for Sim Roy Caldwell, 87, of Wills Point, were held Saturday, July 2, 2016, at Russell Memorial United Methodist Church in Wills Point. Interment followed at Laurel Oaks Memorial Park in Mesquite, under the direction of Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home.

Mr. Caldwell died June 29, 2016.

He was born April 15, 1929, in Mesquite to parents, Robert Benjamin Caldwell and Ruth Vernet Hall. He was raised in Mesquite where he graduated high school. He enlisted in the United States Navy and served for two years. He married Naoma Louise Aaron in Dallas June 6, 1953, and they made their home in Mesquite. In 1976, they moved to Wills Point. He retired as a Dallas fireman after 22 years.

He served on the Wills Point School Board as board member and president, as well as serving on the Wills Point City Council. He was a member of the Russell Memorial United Methodist Church. He was a loving father and grandfather that enjoyed family get-togethers and loved to cook.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Naoma Caldwell; his parents, Robert and Ruth Caldwell; sister, Billie; and brothers, Robbins, Ed and Jack.

He is survived by his sons, Roy Caldwell and wife, Brooke of Forney, James Caldwell and wife, Kellie of Wills Point and John Caldwell and wife, Lori of Heath; daughter, Melinda Caldwell-Bates and husband, Mark of Wills Point; 15 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
