DAR genealogist to speak at local meeting
The monthly meeting of the Van Zandt County Genealogical Society will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 25 at the Van Zandt County Library at 317 First Monday Ln. in Canton.
The program for the meeting will be a presentation by Tresa Tatyrek.
Tatyrek began her genealogy research in 1997 and now includes client work as well as continuing her own family research. She uses cluster genealogy as her primary research technique along with utilizing technical tools to keep track of her progress.
She has performed volunteer work for several groups and libraries in the Dallas area. She has received local and state volunteer service awards, and is a past president of the Dallas Genealogical Society having served for three years. She also served six years as webmaster for their website.
She is a member of the Captain Nathaniel Mills Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and is a volunteer genealogist for the Daughters of the American Revolution. Tatyrek has given presentations on a variety of genealogical topics and her topic for this meeting will be the genealogy program Family Tree Maker.
Van Zandt County Genealogical Society meetings are held the fourth Saturday of each month except December at 2 p.m. at the county library.
The meetings are always open to the public and all are welcome to attend, members said.
