Municipal court, police department continue warrant crackdown

Local law enforcement officials at both the city and county level have turned to social media more and more over the course of the past year, using resources such as Facebook to keep the public informed about local happenings.

That trend continued May 26, with the WPPD publishing a list of all current outstanding warrants for all Class C violations coming out of the WP Municipal Court that has since been shared nearly 200 times.

On June 7, the WPPD offered an updated list of outstanding warrants on its Facebook page noting: "The Wills Point Municipal Court has offered a discount on the fine portion of any warrant that is paid-in-full before Friday, June 10. They are also accepting payment plans for anyone on the warrant list.

"To arrange for a payment plan, you must come into the Wills Point Court (no one will be arrested if they come into the court to make arrangements) located at 120 N 5th Street, Wills Point, TX 75169.

"A minimum first payment of $25 is due to set up a payment plan. If you live out of the area or have circumstances that prevent you from visiting the court, you can call the Court Clerk at 903-873-2578 extension 2 and ask for a mail option.

"Warrants will be lifted immediately upon entering a signed payment plan option and receipt of the initial payment.

This offer from the court ends at 5:00pm on Friday June 10, 2016. Several people have taken advantage of the offer to save $$$ or start a payment plan and have their warrants lifted and licenses restored."

As of press time, a partial list of persons not yet contacting the WP Municipal Court in an effort to clear up their warrant includes: Cody Ryan Dry, $347.10; Kesha Y. Aaron, $794.30; John D.
