Betty Balentine 1940-2016

Graveside services for Betty Ruth Balentine, 75, of Edgewood, were held Monday, April 25, 2016, at Small Cemetery in Edgewood. Services are under the direction of Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home.

Mrs. Balentine died with her family by her side April 21, 2016, in Wylie.

Betty was born July 24, 1940, in Edgewood, to parents, Neumon Sims and Nellie Reed. She was raised in the Small Community and graduated high school in Edgewood. She married Jack Wade Balentine Sr. in Dallas. They made their home in Dallas and raised their children until moving back to Edgewood in 1978.

She worked at Texas Instruments and retail at Safeway and Garden Ridge later in life. She was of the Christian faith. She loved reading, but spending time with her family was her favorite thing to do.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Jack Wade Balentine Sr.; parents, Neumon and Nellie Sims; sister, Ophelia Kennedy; and brother, Bobby Sims.

She is survived by her sons, Jack Balentine and wife, Jennifer of Nacogdoches and John Balentine and Dee Dee Mayo of Emory; daughters, Laura Mathews and husband, Ray of Wylie and Lisa Balentine of Colorado Springs, Colo.; brothers, Gary Sims and wife, Judy of Edgewood and Billy Sims and wife, Geneva of West Plains, Mo.; grandchildren, Matt Balentine and wife, Kristina, Amanda Rogers and husband, Ryan, Amber Balentine, Jared Balentine, Brandon Balentine, Wade Balentine and wife, Jenny, Scott Balentine and wife, Hailey, Heather Balentine, Cory Mathews, Cierra Mathews, Shane Balentine, Devin Swain and wife, Jackie and Emily Swain; great grandchildren, Ariyannah King, Raleigh Rogers, Hunter Balentine, Hayden Balentine, Hudson Balentine, Bracelyn Black, Sophia Villegas, Elly Balentine, Aubrey Balentine, Ayla Richie and Levi Swain.

Pallbearers were grandsons Wade Balentine, Matt Balentine, Cory Mathews, Scott Balentine, Jared Balentine, Devin Swain, and Brandon Balentine.
