The Wills Point Tigers bounced back from an early stumble last week, rallying from an April 1 district loss to Brownsboro with wins over Community and Van. The week’s action moves the Tigers to 4-2 overall in District 14-4A play.

Wills Point never gave itself against Brownsboro, falling behind 8-0 after just three innings of play.

Tyler James pitched well in relief against the Bears, going 3 1/3 innings while allowing one hit and no earned runs.

Wills Point bounced back quickly from its loss to the Bears, taking to the diamond April 2 and recording a decisive 9-3 win over Nevada Community.

The Tiger offense struck quickly in the top of the first inning thanks in large part to a Seth Wilson single that scored both Jarred Sanford and Logan Morris.

Nevada cut a run off their deficit in the bottom of the second, but Wills Point scored four runs in the top of the third to thwart Nevada’s momentum. Hosea Carroll started the frame with a triple and came home to score on a fielding error. Riley Ramsey followed suit with a similar formula, bringing home Caden Bennett on an RBI triple. Ramsey eventually scored on yet another fielding error to up the lead to 5-1.

The final run of the inning came home on a passed ball, leaving the Tigers in front 6-1.

After allowing two Nevada runs in the bottom of the third inning, Wills Point responded with two insurance runs in the top of the fourth and another insurance run in the top of the fifth to close out the 9-3 win.
